Children as young as young as 6 will be eligible for co-ed basketball instruction during six weekly sessions being offered in Cranberry Township’s Municipal Center gymnasium starting Saturday, November 10. Another six-session basketball class for boys 8 to 10 begins Saturday, November 17, and a preteen basketball league for those 11 to 13 will begin Sunday, January 27.
The instruction provided to participants in each age group builds on skills taught in the previous program level. In addition to practice in the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, offense, and defense taught in the Basketball Dribblers unit for children 6 to 8 years of age, Basketball for Boys ages 8 to 10 features advanced skills and rules. Basketball League-Pre-teen adds scoring, record keeping and a playoff tournament. Baskets are placed at age-appropriate heights for each program.
The program fee for Basketball Dribblers is $60 for Cranberry residents, $65 for everyone else. Boys Basketball, whose games and practices are scheduled from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM on Saturdays, are $70 and $75 respectively. Basketball League Pre-Teen for players 11 through 13 meet Sundays from 12:45 to 3:45 PM. All fees are payable at the time of registration.
